Project Title:
Fruit Production Systems: Practical Research and Knowledge Transfer
Strategic Research Field:
Developing resource-efficient cultivation methods and systems for field crops and special crops
Tasked with developing practical quality-promotion measures, the ‘Fruit-Production Extension’ Research Group is the practitioners’ gateway to all matters relating to fruit growing. The group’s cooperation with the Pome and Stone Fruits Forum ensures prioritisation of the most pressing matters, and contributes to the positive perception of Agroscope in the sector. The focus here is on cultivation systems, fruit thinning, weed control, mechanical mowing, fertiliser application, replant diseases, and cross-system plant-protection issues. An example of this is an Interreg project which aims for overall optimisation of the fruit-production system. The ‘Fruit-Production Extension’ Research Group engages in active knowledge transfer to ensure that knowledge acquired through research reaches practitioners.
