Application and development of instruments for the assessment, preservation and promotion of an eventful, diverse farm landscape, taking different user interests into consideration

The value of the countryside has to be increased, but how? We are developing objective bases for plans and measures, starting from the use of objective countryside assessment methods. Such methods are adapted to changing systems of values. Ecological assessment methods take local and regional conditions into account. Our work is based on land use maps, created by remote sensing and mapping. We propose to compare the effectiveness and meaningfulness of the two methods. We are also investigating methods for analysing the landscape structure.
